You are allowed to pause the model run and either alter parameter settings under item 1.1.1 or choose a different graphical file that represents the environment (item 1.1.2). By this means the model rund can be made more dynamic. |
Items 1.2.1 - 1.2.3 enable you to adjust the spatial scale of the model. The world width and world length are set to 50m x 50m by default, because the only given example graphical file for the environment has these dimensions. However, a more common setting would be a world size of 100m x 100m. The world height of 50m should be sufficient for all mangrove species. It is not necessary to alter the default setting, though. |
A ground level of 5m (comppare item 1.3) was chosen to enable correct display of the FONs in three dimensions. |

In item 1.4.1 you may set the type of the environment. The available options are of two kinds: The first is to let the program set up an environmental matrix that is uniform or that holds an ascending gradient in x direction. In both cases you can enter the maximum environmental level being used under item 1.4.2. The second is to pass in the environment as a grey-scale graphical file. The "sugarscape.pgm" is an example file, but you can pass in your "own.pgm". As the "sugarscape.pgm" the own pgm-file must be located in the "misc" subfolder of the project directory. |
